Of all the mantras in the Hindu Mythology Gayatri reigns the supreme. It is not only a mantra but it is the food of the soul.It is the ultimate (jyoti)- Divine illumination/Radiance/ the Bhagavat Shakti through which the universe is spontaneously evolving – in the words of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh, “Transmigration of Nature.”
We can make a comparison of this mantra with the four forces of physics i.e. strong force, weak force, electromagnetic force and gravitational force – but still it is multi-dimensional as it has access in all the planes of universe. When this mantra amalgamates with ‘Shreem’ quantum sound, it manifests as Mahalaxmi. When it amalgamates with ‘Hreem’ quantum sound it manifests as Shiva Shakti.
Generally, this Gayatri mantra means – ‘Prayer to the Divine Illumination to manifest the radiance of wisdom or the supra-intelligence. Adi Guru Sankaracharya stated,” Gyantam Trayate Iti Gayatri”, which means those who chant it – it acts as a shield and protects the person from any kind of negativity.
